Basic Stir Fry recipe

 

Serves 3-4

Ingredients

250 g meat of choice (beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, fish)

4-6 cups of fresh vegetables

1-3 tbsp of water

3 tbsp peanut oil

Noodles/rice

Sauce

tbsp Soya sauce

1 tsp corn starch

1 tbsp sake or sherry

1/2 tsp ground fresh ginger

1 tsp garlic powder

Directions

Before you start, check the cooking time for the noodles and rice. Try to time your cooking so that the stir fry and noodles/rice are ready at the same time. The total cooking time for the stir fry should be 10 mins.

Put all of the sauce ingredients into a bowl and mix together.

Chop the meat into small thin strips, then place to soak in the sauce for about 15 mins.

Dice the vegetables.

Heat your wok/stir fry pan and add 1 tbsp of oil.

Once the oil has heated add the meat that has been marinating in the sauce and stir for 2 minutes.

Add the vegetables and 2 tbsp of oil and stir for about 5 mins.

Add the remaining sauce and a 3 tbsp of water and stir for 3 mins.

Serve the stir fry with noodles or rice.
